Dell 1Q Net Up 3.7% On Shipment Gains; Shares Rally |

Dell Inc.'s (DELL) fiscal first-quarter net income grew 3.7% as shipment growth hit a two-year high and the company for the first time garnered most of its revenue from markets outside the U.S.
Dell added that it is beginning to see signs that its major restructuring initiatives are beginning to pay off, sending shares up sharply in after-hours trading.
The world's second-biggest maker of personal computers reported net income for the quarter ended May 2 of $784 million, or 38 cents a share, compared with $756 million, or 34 cents a share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 9.2% to $16.08 billion.
