GE reports flat second-quarter earnings |

A day after General Electric Co. announced that it intends to seek options for spinning off its Louisville-based Consumer and Industrial division, the company announced Friday that its second-quarter earnings were flat while revenue increased.
Fairfield, Conn.-based GE (NYSE: GE) reported second-quarter net income of $5.07 billion, or 51 cents per share, down 6 percent from the year-earlier quarter, when GE reported net income of $5.38 billion, or 52 cents per share.
Total revenue increased to $46.9 billion from $42.4 billion.
Net income from continuing operations decreased to $5.4 billion, or 54 cents per share, from $5.6 billion, or 54 cents per share.
