Feds sign off on Oracle acquisition of Sun |

The Department of Justice has blessed database giant Oracle Corp.’s $7.4 billion deal to buy Sun Microsystems Inc.
Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) is based in Redwood City and led by CEO Larry Ellison.
Sun (NASDAQ: JAVA) is based in Santa Clara and makes servers and software. The company employs hundreds of people in Massachusetts. At the end of 2007, it reported 1,700 employees at its research laboratory on Network Drive in Burlington. However that headcount has likely changed amid the company's reorganization over the past 18 months.
