Duke Energy CEO: Recovery will be anemic |

Duke Energy Corp. Chief Executive Jim Rogers on Wednesday told a Charlotte audience to expect an anemic economic recovery in 2010 hampered by federal debt, government deficits and lingering unemployment.
Rogers’ controversial comments were part of Wednesday’s Charlotte Chamber Economic Forecast luncheon at the Charlotte Convention Center. His remarks stole the spotlight from Bank of America Corp. Chief Executive Ken Lewis, Wells Fargo & Co. Chief Executive John Stumpf and Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Chairman Jeff Lacker, who weren’t sure how to respond to Rogers’ less-than-rosy assessment of an economic recovery.
“What I worry about is a very long period with a very anemic recovery,” Rogers said. “Everything points in that direction. I really hope I’m wrong, but I sense that I’m not.”
