JA Solar Sees Strong 4Q Shipments; Shares Jump |

JA Solar Holdings Co. (JASO) expects fourth-quarter shipments to exceed the high end of its earlier guidance as the Chinese solar-cell maker noted strong demand globally from existing and new customers.
The company also expects strong 2010 shipments based on robust orders in the current quarter.
JA Solar's American depositary shares jumped 5.5% to $5.59 in after-hours trading.
The rosy views were another sign the solar power industry has seen signs of improvement in recent months, after the industry struggled early this year amid high inventories and weak demand. The Chinese market has been further helped by government backing for solar projects, but the outlook is still uncertain as high inventories weigh on pricing.
