Industrial production rises in November, Fed data show |

After hitting the doldrums only a month ago, growth in the nation's industrial production recovered in November, the Federal Reserve reported Tuesday.
Industrial production rose 0.8% in November, the strongest gain since August. Still, it's fallen 5.1% over the past year.
Capacity utilization rose to 71.3% in November from a 70.6% rate in the previous month.
The rise in production was above expectations. Economists had been anticipating November growth of 0.5%.
Manufacturing scored a big gain, expanding 1.1% in a reversal from a 0.2% drop in October. There were broad-based gains in durable and nondurable goods, the Fed's data indicated.
