Williams-Sonoma lifts views in improved home goods sector |

Following a string of other retailers, Williams-Sonoma Inc. on Thursday raised its sales and profit estimates for the fourth quarter after holiday sales beat its plan.
The company, which also owns the West Elm and Pottery Barn chains, forecast fourth-quarter adjusted earnings to rise to 69 cents to 74 cents a share. It sees revenue of $1.06 billion to $1.08 billion.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet estimated the kitchen- gear and home-furnishings retailer would earn 49 cents a share.
In November, the company had projected fourth-quarter profit of as much as 45 cents a share. It said sales, selling margins and expense controls all exceeded its projections.
