Humana 4Q Net Up 44%, Gives 1Q EPS Est Above Views |

Humana Inc.'s (HUM) fourth-quarter earnings rose 44% as strong performance in its government businesses offset continued weakness in its commercial segment.
The managed-care company also raised its 2010 earnings view by 10 cents to $5.15 to $5.35 a share, reflecting Humana's expectation it will keep a disputed military contract at least through March 2011, and raised the low end of its revenue projection by $1 billion.
Humana projected first-quarter per-share earnings of $1.10 to $1.20, higher than the average estimate of $1.04 from analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, and raised its outlook for Medicare Advantage membership for this year.
