BHP Billiton to take buyout offer to Potash shareholders |

A trio of Chicago business executives is in the spotlight as a takeover battle brews for a Canadian fertilizer producer.
Bill Doyle, of Winnetka, who has run Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. from afar since 1999, faces a hostile bid from one of the world's largest mining companies, BHP Billiton Ltd. of Australia.
BHP Billiton said Wednesday that it will take its $38.6 billion offer for Potash Corp. directly to shareholders, a day after Potash's board rejected its bid as too low. Potash's board includes two other Chicagoans, John Estey and C. Steven Hoffman.
