General Motors shuffled several executives this week as the automaker, two months removed from its public stock offering, works to build on recent momentum.
G.M. on Thursday appointed a new head for global product development, Mary Barra, who has a background in engineering, manufacturing and human resources. Ms. Barra, 49, is the first woman to hold that role at G.M. and is 13 years younger than her predecessor, Thomas G. Stephens.
