Energy company Kinder Morgan Inc. priced its initial public offering at $30 a share Thursday night, above the expected $26-to-$29 price range.
It sold 95.5 million shares of stock in the deal, making it the largest private-equity-backed IPO ever seen in the U.S. Kinder Morgan on Thursday said the size of the offering was increased above the previously announced plan of 80 million shares, based on strong demand.
The company's offering was widely expected to draw strong investor interest, with its marketing roadshows packed with attendees in the past week, according to Scott Sweet, managing director of IPOBoutique.com.
