Apple's iPad 2 to ship March 11 starting at $499 |

Apple CEO Steve Jobs took the stage to launch the next generation of iPads, delivering a widely expected faster performance chip and front- and rear-facing camera for photos and video chats.
Jobs, on an indefinite medical leave and unexpected to attend, drew a round of applause with his surprise walk-on Wednesday morning at the Apple event here to introduce the iPad 2.
"We've been working on this product for a while and i just didn't want to miss this day," Jobs said.
Looking about the same as he did at recent events—thinner, but in jeans and black mock turtleneck, Jobs did more than a walk-on. He stayed on stage for 32 minutes non-stop, before handing over the reins to various Apple executives to show off new Apple software. He returned several times and closed the event with a sum-up at the end, saying, "I'm blown away by this stuff."
