Ford sees possible production halts in Asia |

Shares of Ford Motor Co. erased an early decline Tuesday after the company warned it may have to slow or halt production in the Asia-Pacific region later this month because of parts shortages stemming from last month’s earthquake in Japan.
Ford /quotes/comstock/13*!f/quotes/nls/f (F 15.00, +0.14, +0.94%) said this disruption would not have a “material impact” on its overall results, but the auto maker reiterated that its bottom line could take a hit if the situation worsens.
“Should the supply of a key material or component from Japan be disrupted and an alternate supply not be available, we could have to reduce or temporarily cease production of vehicles, which could adversely affect our and Ford Motor Credit Co.’s financial condition and results of operations,” Ford warned in a filing.
In the meantime, the company said it continues to seek alternate suppliers.
