BP, Weatherford gains buoy energy stocks |

BP PLC’s shares rose nearly 3% Tuesday after Weatherford International Ltd. agreed to pay $75 million to settle claims related to the Macondo well blowout and oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico last year, as energy stocks made broad-based gains.
BP /quotes/zigman/247026/quotes/nls/bp BP +3.75% moved up by $1.07 to $42.92, as shares of Weatherford /quotes/zigman/504342/quotes/nls/wft WFT +2.84% advanced by 3% to $17.38.
