Ford Sales Rise 8.9%, Led by Escape |

Ford (F_) said sales rose 8.9%, led by sales of fuel-efficient utility vehicles.
The automaker said July sales totaled 180,865, led by the Escape, which had its best month ever.
Escape sales rose 66% to 24,411. Overall, Ford brand utility sales rose 43% to 49,744 units. Explorer sales rose 108% to 9,897.
"Customers value the fuel efficiency and technology in our new utilities," said Ken Czubay, vice president for U.S. marketing, sales and service, in a prepared statement.
Meanwhile, sales of the best-selling U.S. vehicle, the Ford F150 pickup truck, declined 2.7% to 49,105. Overall, for both Ford and Lincoln, utility sales rose 31%, car sales rose 3.4% and truck sales rose 0.5%.
