Analyst: 2012 will be Boeing's year |

Boeing Co. got a lift on Tuesday from a big Southwest Airlines order, leading one analyst to declare that 2012 will be the "Year of Boeing."
THE OPINION: Citi analyst Jason Gursky wrote that the timing of the Southwest Airlines Co. order is a positive because he hadn't expected firm orders for Boeing's 737 Max until early next year. Boeing is putting a more fuel-efficient engine on the 737. While it had logged some 750 commitments, Southwest on Tuesday was the first airline to place a binding order, for 150 of the planes.
Gursky wrote that he expects to see more of the 750 commitments begin to turn into firm orders. He projected that Boeing will see at least 1,200 orders next year, and it will book nearly twice as many orders as it delivers during the year.
