McDonald's profit climbs 11% in 4Q |

Oak Brook-based restaurant giant McDonald's Corp. said its fourth-quarter profit climbed 11 percent, with solid sales gains in each area of the world.
Company executives expressed confidence about 2012, but alluded to possible price increases, as ingredient costs are expected to rise.
"The global economy remains challenging with the recovery predicted to be slow and prolonged," McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner said in a call with investors. "Our industry still faces significant headwinds, including flat to slow growth, low consumer confidence and volatile commodity prices."
Despite the difficult environment, Skinner said McDonald's was able to increase sales, traffic and market share. Over the past year, McDonald's increased global daily guest counts to 68 million, from 64 million.
