China urges US to treat its firms fairly after deal scrapped |

China urged the US today to deal with its companies fairly after a proposed telecom takeover involving a Chinese enterprise was blocked due to apparent US national security concerns.
The Chinese telecommunications company Huawei and the private equity firm Bain Capital yesterday withdrew an application for US security approval of a joint 2.2 bln usd takeover bid for the US technology group 3Com.
The firms withdrew their application from the powerful Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reportedly due to concerns that the Chinese participation in the deal would threaten US national security.
