Google Inc. GOOG is well positioned to weather a U.S. economic slowdown, Chief Executive Eric Schmidt said Monday.
"The kind of advertising we do is more measurable," he said, adding that in bad times advertisers tend to shift to "highly measured" advertising.
He also said the firm's international operations offer a buffer in case of a U.S. downturn.
"Even if there is a U.S. recession, and especially if the U.S. dollar gets weaker, we tend to benefit from currency effects," he said. He didn't provide data or forecasts for overseas revenue.
