Busy hurricane season forecast

It’s going to be a busy year for Atlantic basin hurricanes.

That’s the feeling of the Colorado State University hurricane forecast team which has increased its earlier prediction for the 2007 hurricane season which is traditionally June 1-Nov. 30.

The team’s forecast anticipates 17 named storms forming in the Atlantic for the coming season with nine of the 17 expected to become hurricanes and five of them are forecast to become intense or major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph or greater.
