Asia Spurs Semiconductor Sales |

Global semiconductor-chip sales rose 1.5% in February versus a year ago, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association, which said prices continued to tumble for memory products despite a rise in total units sold.
It also noted that the Asia-Pacific region, including China, has surpassed the U.S. as the largest market for personal computers.
The industry group said world-wide chip sales totaled $20.44 billion for the month, down 4.9% from January. However, SIA said the decline was in line with normal seasonal patterns for the industry.
SIA President George Scalise said that the continued lower prices for dynamic random access memory "masked underlying strength in global chip sales in February." Excluding memory products, worldwide semiconductor sales grew by nearly 10% year-to-year.
