Sprint shares jump on talk of DT bid |

Shares of Sprint Nextel Corp. rose nearly 8% in premarket trading Monday morning after a report that the German phone giant Deutsche Telekom AG might be interested in acquiring the No. 3 wireless carrier in the U.S.
The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Deutsche Telekom's exploration of a bid for Sprint Nextel Deutsche Telekom already owns T-Mobile USA Inc., the nation's fourth largest mobile operator.
If the parent company pulled off the acquisition of Sprint Nextel, it would vault T-Mobile past AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless into the top position in the U.S.
