Cisco earning streak rolls on |

Cisco Systems Inc. reported a 34 percent jump in third-quarter profit Tuesday fueled by growing demand for its video-intensive networking equipment and a strong showing by its set-top box manufacturer Scientific-Atlanta.
The world's largest maker of networking equipment reported $1.87 billion in net income (30 cents per share) on record sales of $8.87 billion for the quarter that ended April 28.
For the same quarter a year ago, Cisco posted net income of $1.40 billion (20 cents) on $7.32 billion in revenue. Excluding one-time costs, Cisco earned 34 cents per share, a penny higher than analyst estimates.
