BP refining chief Manzoni to leave for rival post |

BP on Wednesday said the head of its refining and marketing business, John Manzoni, is leaving the firm after 24 years, a move which comes months after damning reports on the company's safety at its refineries.
Iain Conn, a BP executive with responsibility for safety and operations, will take over as CEO of the division starting June 1, BP said. Manzoni will leave BP altogether in August, and in September will become chief executive of Talisman Energy , a Canadian firm that separately announced his arrival.
BP has been heavily criticized both by a committee led by former Secretary of State James Baker as well as the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board for the safety at its refineries. An explosion in 2005 in Texas City, Tex. left 15 dead and hundreds injured.
