Midwest Air Group Warns on 2Q Profit |
Houston Chronicle - Jun 12, 2007 |
Regional carrier Midwest Air Group Inc. warned Tuesday its second-quarter results will likely fall short of Wall Street's expectations, while reporting its May traffic grew 21.6 percent.
The parent of Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect said it's been hurt by softer fare trends in the domestic market, echoing recent warnings from others in the industry. In May, the company's yield _ an industry gauge that tracks fare trends _ fell 8.1 percent from the prior year's month.
The company said it expects to miss analysts' second-quarter expectations. Two analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect the company to earn 67 cents per share in the quarter. Midwest Air Group, which is fighting a hostile takeover attempt from rival AirTran Holdings Inc., also said its second-quarter results could fall slightly below last year's levels, excluding costs related to the AirTran bid and other items.
