VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2010) - Trijet Mining Corp. ("Trijet" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:TJT) announces it has expanded its Letourneur Gold project to more than twice the initial size to cover new gold and base metals targets.
The Letourneur project is located in the Abitibi region of southwestern Quebec, 41 km north of Rouyn-Noranda, in the regional municipality of Taschereau, and approximately 17 km (10 miles) north of the Fayolle property of Exploration Typhon which has recently encountered 112.5g/t Au over 6 meters. Trijet Mining has completed 15 drill holes for a total of 2190 meters encountering gold mineralization in 10 out of 15 drill holes including 16 meters of 1.33g/t Au (with 4.2 m of 4.7g/t Au near surface).
Trijet has secured the areas adjacent to the Letourneur drill target in all directions for a total of 42 new mineral claims covering approximately 1775.4 hectares (17.75 square kilometers), accordingly, the total area of the property after the recent staking will become 2900 hectares (29 square kilometers).
The property was extended to the north to cover an east-west trending regional structure known as the Macamic Fault (this structure is known to host several gold showings and prospects with possible reserves located north-east of the property) as well as to the west to cover gold mineralization known as the Laferte prospect. The Laferte gold prospect was discovered in 1992, it is a mineralized body located approximately 2.5 kilometers northwest of the Letourneur gold target area. The mineralization consists of pyrite altered rhyolite in contact with a unit of rhyolite porphyry intrusive rocks. There is also stock-work mineralized quartz veins located north of the general area of the Laferte prospect. Another network of mineralized quartz veins disseminated with pyrite was located an approximately 200 meters directly north and along strike with the Laferete prospect. Previous sampling of the Laferte prospect returned 4.5 g/t Au. (These gold values are for information purposes, there is no 43-101 compliant report on the Letourneur property).
The property was extended to the northwest to cover a massive to semi-massive sulphide mineralized body known as Lois River east located approximately 4.8 kilometers northwest of Letorneur gold target area. Mineralization consists mainly of pyrite, chalcopyrite and malachite along the cleavage plans of sheared and strongly altered rhyolite breccias.
Company geologist, Dr. Michel Boily has outlined a 30 drill-hole, Phase II work program for the Letourneur project. With access to the property available year round, work is anticipated to commence in November.
