DreamWorks Rides ‘Shrek’ to Higher Profit |

DreamWorks Animation SKG posted a sharply higher second-quarter profit on Tuesday, propelled by global box-office receipts of $720 million for “Shrek the Third.”
Net income was $61.8 million, or 60 cents a share, compared with $13.7 million, or 13 cents a share, for the year-earlier quarter.
Revenue rose to $222.5 million, from $74.9 million a year ago. Analysts, on average, were expecting net earnings of 36 cents a share and revenue of $151.2 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
“Shrek the Third” contributed about $109.1 million in revenue for the quarter, and home video sales and pay television and broadcast fees for other films, including “Over the Hedge” and “Flushed Away,” accounted for the rest.
