Tyco hit by $3.6bn loss |

Tyco, the scandal-tainted conglomerate, on Tuesday said it made a $3.55bn loss in its third quarter after taking charges for the settlement of a class-action law suit and break-up costs.
The loss of $7.18 a share follows net income of $868m, or $1.68 a share, in the same period last year.
The results included a $2.89bn charge, a record for a single firm, after Tyco settled a lawsuit with shareholders who claimed that the company’s leadership engaged in a massive accounting fraud scheme and overstated income.
