Edward A. Mueller named new Qwest CEO |

Former Williams-Sonoma Inc. CEO Edward A. Mueller said Monday he will focus on the fundamentals as the new head of Qwest Communications International Inc.
Mueller said he wants Qwest to continue to provide good customer service and have profitable growth while keeping spending disciplined.
'I think we do win through people and service,' Mueller said during a conference call with analysts.
The Denver-based telecommunications company announced late Sunday that Mueller would succeed retiring chairman and CEO Richard C. Notebaert.
Mueller, 60, has more than 34 years of experience in telecommunications and was president and chief executive officer of Ameritech Corp. from 2000 to 2002. He sits on the boards of VeriSign Inc., Clorox Co. and GSC Acquisition Co.
