TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 12, 2011) - Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SNA) ("Star" or the "Company"), is pleased to announce that it has received AS 9100 Rev. "C" certification from BSI Group America Inc.
AS 9100 Rev. "C" is the international quality management system standard for the Aircraft, Space and Defense (AS&D) industry. The standard is based on ISO 9001:2008 and includes additional quality system requirements specifically for aerospace.
The standard provides manufacturers and suppliers with a comprehensive internationally recognized quality system for providing safe and reliable products to the aerospace (civil, military) industry.
The AS9100 standard applies to companies that design, develop, and/or manufacture aviation, space and defense products and to organizations providing post-delivery support, including the provision of maintenance, spare parts, or materials, for their own products.
In addition, this standard covers all aspects of an organization's activities, including identifying its key processes, defining roles and responsibilities, policies and objectives, documentation requirements, the importance of understanding and meeting customer requirements, communication, resource requirements, training, product and process planning, design processes, purchasing, production and services, monitoring and measurement of products and processes, customer satisfaction, internal audit, management review, and improvement processes. AS9100 Rev. "C" is based on the following seven Quality Management Principles, which are incorporated within the requirements of the standard, and can be applied to improve organizational performance:
Customer focus – Leadership - Involvement of people - Process approach - System approach to management - Continual improvement - Factual approach to decision making
Viraf S. Kapadia, CEO, stated, "Star and its TEAM are proud to be awarded the AS 9100 Rev "C" certification. We have always aspired to provide the highest quality products and service to our customers and have worked diligently to consistently and steadily improve. We expect AS9100 Rev. "C" certification to lead to improved performance, the opening of new market channels, staff motivation and improved product and service quality. Our goal is more satisfied customers, improved management and operational processes, less waste (both time and materials), increased productivity, efficiency and cost savings. AS 9100 Rev. "C" certification is the result of the very significant efforts of everyone at Star over the past months."
This AS9100 Rev. "C" certification is supplemental to Star's current CAR 561 Certification from Transport Canada.

"C" and ISO 9001:2008 certification is an important achievement for Star as we position ourselves for full commercialization of our STAR-ISMS® system. We hope it will also instill confidence in our prospective customers and partners, etc., as it further demonstrates our commitment to meeting and/or exceeding the very high standards that are required and demanded by the aerospace industry."
