NQ Hits 16 Metres Grading 93.1 g/t Ag at Surface on Its Carheil Project |
Marketwire.com - Aug 25, 2011 |
LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 25, 2011) - NQ Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NQE) is pleased to report early results of the new drilling program at its Carheil project (100% NQ). The first hole of the planned 20,000-metre program is revealing more and more of the potential of the near-surface silver zone about 30 metres down, just under the overburden, once again boosting the assessment of the open-pit potential. This hole returned the highest grade of all the shallow holes, with a total of 58.3 g/t Ag over 32 metres, including a higher grade zone of 93.1 g/t Ag over 16 metres.
These results would tend to confirm that a "low-grade" zone over 10 metres thick could be outlined between surface and the 200-metre level, within a 25 to 30-metre mineralized envelope. These results call for a review of the deposition model and the metallogenic control of the silver zones, which appear to be larger than anticipated, with rich zones in both the silicified and the sericitized areas, with or without the presence of zinc and copper sulphides.
The following table shows the best grades obtained in Hole CA 2011-018:
From To Length1 Cu Zn Ag Zone
m M M % % g/t
33.0 65.0 32.0 0.54 58.3 Ag1
48.0 64.0 16.0 0.68 93.1 Ag1
127.5 130.5 3.0 2.05 14.4
1 The lengths shown are core lengths. On the basis of current information, true widths would be 70 to 80% of these lengths.
Hole CA2011-018 is closer to surface than any other hole drilled by NQ Exploration to date. NQ plans to continue definition drilling near surface as soon as it receives the results of the two other holes drilled to test the Ag1 zone above the 200-metre level. It should be noted that Hole CA2011-18 also intercepted a copper zone, returning an intersection grading 2.05% Cu and 14.4 g/t Ag over 3.0 metres within the altered felsic unit. This copper enrichment in the alteration pipe was also seen in several earlier holes drilled by NQ.
The other holes drilled to date tested this silver zone at vertical depths of 200 to 600 metres. About 3,160 metres have been drilled in nine holes since June 13 (see longitudinal), and drilling is ongoing.
Assays were performed by the ALS Chemex laboratory in Val-d'Or. All samples are assayed using two methods: 1 – for gold, first by fire assay with an FA-AA23 finish, then for results over 1 g/t rerun by fire assay with AU-GRA21 gravity finish; 2 – for 35 elements using multi-acid ICP (ME-ICP61), then for results over 150 ppm silver rerun using fire assay Ag-GRA21, and/or over 10,000 ppm Cu/Mo/Pb/Zn rerun using the ore grade method (OG46) with aqua regia digestion and ICP-AES finish. Due to the exceptionally high number of samples awaiting laboratory testing, assay delivery times have temporarily risen from 30 to 45 days.
