Bombardier Grounds Planes After Second SAS Accident |

Bombardier Inc., the world's third-biggest aircraft maker, recommended that 60 of its Dash 8 Q400 turboprop planes be grounded following a second accident involving the model in a week. Stock of the Canadian company fell as much as 5 percent.
Part of the landing gear on a Scandinavian Airlines Q400 plane collapsed after touchdown in Lithuania today after a flight from Copenhagen, Bombardier said in statement. An aircraft operated by the same carrier caught fire in Aalborg, Denmark, on Sept. 9 after its landing gear failed to work.
All Q400 aircraft that have accumulated more than 10,000 cycles -- comprising a takeoff and landing -- should be grounded until inspections have been carried out, Montreal-based Bombardier said. The landing gear was made by Goodrich Corp. of the U.S., it said.
