Chiquita Expects Slight Rise in 3Q Sales |

Chiquita Brands International Inc. said Wednesday it expects a slight rise in third-quarter revenue compared with year-ago results.
The distributor of bananas and other fresh fruits and packaged salads posted sales of $1 billion in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expect third-quarter revenue of $1.1 billion.
Chairman and Chief Executive Fernando Aguirre said in a statement that the anticipated sales improvement is due to year-over-year banana price increases in July and August in all markets as well as modest growth in net revenue per case and volume for its retail value-added salads business.
