Bay Area shopping crush builds in wee hours of Black Friday |

The shopping frenzy in the Bay Area began before Thanksgiving Day even ended as thousands of shoppers braved the bitter cold and flocked to the Gilroy Premium Outlets in search of the perfect bargain.
It was the third annual Midnight Madness sale at the Gilroy outlets, and retailers and outlet officials are saying it was the biggest turnout yet.
By 3 a.m., outlet officials reported about 10,000 cars had parked in their lots. By 6 a.m., officials estimated more than 20,000 cars, more than double last year's total.
