France's Vivendi is merging its game unit with Activision to fight off Electronic Arts. Investors turn to this week's economic data ahead of the Fed meeting next week. E*Trade is downgraded.
"World of Warcraft" is teaming up with "Guitar Hero."
French entertainment company Vivendi, maker of "Warcraft," is buying a controlling stake in "Guitar Hero" maker Activision in a deal that will produce a rival to industry leader Electronic Arts.
Shares of Activision jumped $4.29, or 19.4%, to $26.44 in morning trading.
