Canadian agricultural product maker Agrium Inc. said Friday its extended its tender offer for the $2.65 billion acquisition of UAP Holding Corp. because some regulatory approvals have not come through yet.
Agrium said the waiting period under the U.S. Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust act has not ended and a "no-action" letter required by Canadian regulators has not been obtained.
The tender offer was previously set to expire Thursday. About 35.8 million shares of UAP common stock was tendered then.
On Monday, Agrium withdrew a notification and report form required by U.S. regulators for a second time to allow more time for the Federal Trade Commission to review the proposed acquisition. Agrium said it planned to refile within 30 days.
