Stocks tumble, investors convinced world economy headed for severe downturn |

Stock markets shed hundreds of points Friday morning as pessimism deepened about global economies.
Toronto's S&P/TSX composite index was down 250.03 points or 2.6 per cent late in the morning to 9,081.32. It had been down about 700 points in the early going.
