UnitedHealth’s Earnings Beat Analyst Estimates |

UnitedHealth Group Inc., the top U.S. health insurer by sales, reported profit that beat analyst estimates as a rise in revenue from government-funded plans countered a recession-fueled drop in the number of people obtaining coverage through employers.
First-quarter net income fell 1 percent from a year earlier to $984 million, or 81 cents a share, the Minnetonka, Minnesota, insurer said today in a statement. Earnings beat the 69 cent average estimate of 15 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Revenue rose 8.4 percent to $22 billion.
