Ford turns a corner |

Ford turned in a quarterly profit Thursday, its first in over a year. And if Ford CEO Alan Mulally felt like taking a victory lap, he'd get a standing ovation.
Mulally is cashing in on a big bet he made a few months ago when he veered away from a government bailout. The auto industry was in crisis, the money was there, and rivals General Motors and Chrysler didn't think twice about grabbing a federal lifeline.
But Mulally said "No, thanks" and it's made a world of difference. At least in terms of public perception.
