Delta seeks a stake in Japan Airlines: reports |

Delta Air Lines is reportedly in preliminary talks to buy a stake in Japan Airlines, according to published reports on Friday.
Such a deal would increase Delta's /quotes/comstock/13*!dal/quotes/nls/dal (DAL 8.18, +0.08, +0.96%) presence in Japan and further diversify an already far-reaching international network, said Jim Corridore, an analyst with Standard & Poor's Equity Research.
"While we might question the timing of any major cash outlay during a severe air travel demand downturn, we think Delta has enough cash on its balance sheet to make a major investment," Corridore said, and reiterated his buy rating for the stock.
