World Bank Pres Sees Other Reserve Currency Options To Dollar |

Calling for a coordinated effort to rebalance the global economy and power structure in the wake of the economic crisis, World Bank President Robert Zoellick said Monday the dollar could increasingly lose its status as the dominant reserve currency in a multi-polar world.
Zoellick, in prepared remarks for a wide-ranging speech on the causes and implications of the crisis, said the dollar would remain a "major currency," but that it would likely face competition as a reserve currency.
"The United States would be mistaken to take for granted the dollar's place as the world's predominant reserve currency," Zoellick told the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University.
