Indonesia joins other nations in threat to ban BlackBerrys |

Shares in BlackBerry parent Research In Motion fell 3.9% to $53.39 in New York trading on Wednesday after Indonesia threatened to join other countries — including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates— that plan to ban or hobble the popular smartphone.
The country wants RIM (RIMM) to install a server in Indonesia to handle local data transmissions, instead of routing them through facilities based elsewhere.
"We don't know whether data being sent through BlackBerrys can be intercepted or read by third parties outside the country," including criminals and spies, said Gatot Dewa Broto, spokesman for Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Information, according to the Associated Press.
