Manufacturing back at 2004 level |

February data from Tempe’s Institute for Supply Management show the U.S. manufacturing sector reached its highest level of productivity since May 2004.
The group’s manufacturing index hit 61.4 percent in January, up from December’s reading of 60.8 percent.
According to ISM’s national survey of supply executives, manufacturing activity expanded in January for the 19th consecutive month, and the overall economy grew for the 21st consecutive month.
“While there are many positive indicators, there is also concern as industries related to housing continue to struggle,” said Norbert Ore, author of the report.
