Consumer sentiment falls sharply in March |

An index of U.S. consumer sentiment fell in March to its lowest level in almost a year and a half, largely because of higher gas and food prices, according to a survey released Friday.
The consumer-sentiment index produced by Thomson Reuters and the University of Michigan fell to 67.5 in March, from an initial reading of 68.2 earlier in the month. The decline halted an extended advance since last October and put the index at its lowest level since November 2009. Read more about the index here.
