U.S. jobless claims decline again; NY tops list in new initial claims |

The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits for the week ended July 9 fell to 405,000, a decrease of 22,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 427,000, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday.
The four-week moving average was 423,250, a decrease of 3,750 from the previous week, according to a news release.
The largest increases in initial claims for the week ended July 2 were in New York (6,220), Minnesota (3,319), Kentucky (2,997), Massachusetts (2,232) and California (1,941). The largest decreases were in Florida (5,889), Maryland (1,272), Oregon (890), Wisconsin (832) and Vermont (596).
