Chancellor Angela Merkel's Party Gains Support After European Summit |

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is enjoying a rise in support despite her concessions in crisis talks with European leaders last week, a poll showed Wednesday.
The Forsa Institute said the results suggest voters are opting for safety rather than change as the euro crisis grinds on.
"Just like during all times of crisis, people rally around the government," Forsa chief Manfred Guellner told the weekly Stern magazine. "Even though people don't understand individual actions, they support Merkel anyway."
Stern and TV channel RTL commissioned the poll.
Support for the governing coalition rose to 36% from 34% the week before the summit, when Ms. Merkel relented and agreed to greatly expand the scope of the euro-zone bailout funds.
