Before Alcoa, Three Reasons To Worry About Earnings Season |

Alcoa provides the informal kickoff to second-quarter earnings season as the first Dow Jones industrial average component to report April –June numbers Monday, but recent readings from companies that wrapped up their latest quarter at the close of May have offered reasons for investors to be wary.
FedEx issued its latest results June 19, and though the parcel shipper beat expectations in its May quarter, its guidance for the summer months and full fiscal year were shy of estimates. The company warned of cost increases and the challenges posed by slower global growth. The latter is likely to be a common refrain among companies reporting over the next several weeks.
